HEY GUYS. Guess what? We have a ton of new blog posts coming! And you wanna know why you should care?! Because nobody else does!
Anyway, my sister and I were in San Ramon for our good friend Austin’s wedding recently. We met him when we were freshman babies in college and now he’s MARRIED. Time flies man. It done FLEW.
San Ramon isn’t the most vegan friendly place ever but we did find some gems. No, not diamonds, but we did find inari! That’s how the phrase goes right? Inari is a girl’s best friend! Doesn’t get better than that.
1.) Hyatt House San Ramon
We stayed at this hotel while we were up there and it was SO fricken nice and very affordable. There was even a kitchen and living room IN our hotel room which was awesome (because then we could bring vegan ice cream back to our hotel room and keep it in the freezer!) There was also a pool AND a jacuzzi at the hotel. like !?
The hotel had a free complimentary breakfast buffet every morning that wasn’t just “toast, jam, coffee, and tea”. It had EVERYTHING. Of course, it wasn’t all vegan or even close, but it was the litty-est complimentary breakfast buffet I had ever seen at a hotel. And they had a few yummy vegan options, like fruit, coffee/tea/juice, really yummy almond milk, and an entire oatmeal bar with lots of toppings! We asked to make sure and their oatmeal was made with water. Everything was so fricken delicious and perfect.
2) Ike’s Sandwiches
DON’T GO HERE. IT IS SO GRIMEY INSIDE THE STORE. The worker was coughing all over his hands and our sandwiches as he made them. We also witnessed him trying to flirt with his cute coworker and getting flat out rejected SO THERE’S THAT. If you want some nasty ass sandwiches and second hand embarrassment, go to Ikes?
The sandwiches seemed like they would be really yummy though because Ike’s has a ton of vegan options from vegan deli meats, vegan mayo, vegan cheese, etc. and they always warm up the sandwiches so they are all toasty. They are also relatively big sandwiches so that’s cool BUT we just threw out our sandwiches because we were GROSSED out. CRYING. BRB.
3) Sprouts
All hail Sprouts, the supermarket for being our saving grace after that scarring Ikes experience. We got some vegan snacks like vegan ice cream, chocolate covered acai bites, fruit leathers, etc. We got some vegan sushi as well BUT THE REAL MVP was the vegan INARI we got.
Fuck. Me. Up. Fam.
If you’ve never had inari…. we can’t be friends. It’s basically fried tofu on top of rice and it’s ORGASMIC. Like if I had to choose never having sex again or never eating Inari, I’d already be in a bathtub full of Inari.
They are little pockets of heaven.
4) Subway
Always a great option when traveling. If you hate Subway, you better check yourself before you wreck yourself, honey.
That’s it folks! There were a couple other little places with legit vegan options (Baggan was one of them and I think Blossom was the other?), but we didn’t really get the chance to visit them. Hope this helps!
