Happy ThanksLIVING y’all. Writing this from my bed as I recover from covid because ~ just my luck ~ but I did spend the last week in Utah and thought I’d share all the vegan noms I had before I got diagnosed with the RORO (Corona. Covid. You get it.)
My sister and I love visiting different cities, so we decided to spend Thanksgiving week exploring Salt Lake City, Park City, and Deer Valley, Utah! Random, right?
Salt Lake City was super cute and had a few vegan options. We were only in SLC for a day though (otherwise known as SL, UT lmao), so we could only visit a handful of places, but it was surprisingly vegan-friendly. Idk why I thought it wouldn’t be because of the Morman culture, but I guess that makes no sense in retrospect??
- Thirst Drinks (SLC)
Our first stop was Thirst Drinks of Tik Tok fame. We’ve been following the Thirst Drinks Tik Tok account for months now and were SO excited to finally go to one irl. Thirst is a soda shop with tons of different sodas, flavors, fruits, and concoctions. Utah has a lot of them because Mormons don’t drink alcohol or caffeine (I believe??), so their vice is soda , and, boy, am I thankful for that. THIRST IS THE TITS.
I got a “Johnny and June: (sprite, tiger’s blood syrup, & coconut cream) with passionfruit syrup added and Bella did a make-your-own with mountain dew and passion fruit, and guava syrup. We also got two citrus spa waters (water, oranges, lemon, lime, and frozen mango) and freshly made non-buttered cinnamon pretzel bites and frosting (which we were told were vegan if we ordered sans butter). Everything was a TEN OUT OF TEN. I wish I could go back!!! Craving it so hard rn.
2. Bud’s Sandwiches (SLC)
Our next stop was Bud’s Sandwiches, an all-vegan deli. The cafe itself was super cute and a lot of the customers were also very cute, so… win-win? Bella got the veggie sandwich with added vegan turkey and I got the classic deli. Both were amazing and I wish I had more time to go back and try all the other options!!
3. Land Juiciery/Pink Elephant Coffee Roasters (Park City)
After that, we stopped at Main Street in Park City to shop around and see what it had to offer.
There was a juice shop/coffee shop within a store (a store within a store – storeception) called Land Juicery. We didn’t get anything from there, but they had a whole grab-and-go juice shelf, as well as a whole row of vegan pastries, and a little coffee shop with non-dairy milk. Super, super cute!
4. La Niche (Park City)
There was also another gelato/coffee shop within a store (again, storeception) on Main Street called La Niche. They had non-dairy gelatos (including a dark chocolate flavor) and lattes with non-dairy milk and a TON of syrup options. Utah really comes in clutch with the syrups. I got an almond milk cappuccino with sugar-free chocolate syrup and it was AMAZING. Such a warm, yummy latte for a cold day!!
5. Montage Resort and Spa (Deer Valley)
My sister and I spent the majority of our stay at the Montage resort. They had a few restaurants in the resort, but the most vegan-friendly was called Apex because it had its own vegan menu. Some of the vegan breakfast items on the vegan menu include oatmeal, chia pudding, chilaquiles, and avocado toast. Their vegan lunch/dinner options included: squash enchiladas, tofu stir-fry, tomato soup, hummus and crudite, and a few others.
Not to mention, they had a vegan burger on their in-room dining menu! #lovethatforus
We had the oatmeal for breakfast, which was solid, and the tofu stir-fry (to-go) for lunch which was very yummy as well!
Then, at the hotel cafe, they had non-dairy milks, so we got matcha lattes and warm tea. They also served a variety of vegan chocolate bars, including a honeycomb and even a s’mores one, so of course, I had to get both!!
Also, also, also (should I say also one more time?) they offer S’more making every night from 5-6. We stole some S’more sticks and brought our own marshmallows/chocolate/graham crackers and made our own vegan s’mores! #lifehack #BYOS
6. Glyn Thai
We were being lazy (and, in retrospect, I was just fatigued from covid), so we canceled our dinner reservation at Apex and ordered Uber Eats from a Thai place in Park City called Glyn Thai. We called ahead and asked what could be made vegan. The restaurant was super helpful and said to write “make everything vegan” in the notes of our order.
We ended up getting the tofu spring rolls, the snowpea tofu salad, and the sweet and sour veggie stir fry. Everything was 10/10. Soooooooo good!!! If you like Thai and are in Park City, definitely check them out.
Alright, that’s it, folks. Off to go chug some dayquil and pray these symptoms go away ASAP.
