Queenstown was probably my second favorite place after Auckland. It’s like a little vacation town and reminds me a lot of Aspen, Colorado. Super cute and quaint but surrounded by nature. (Lol sorry just had to take a break writing this blog post to explain to my male roomate that feminists don’t hate being called “feminine”, they just want equal rights. I KNOW.) Anyway, back to vegan food.
In Queenstown, I had the best vegan pancakes OF MY LIFE, chilled in a hot pool, almost died because I almost got bucked off a horse, and had a pretty baller quad biking experience, SO I’d say it was an ADVENTURE.
1. Rehab
No not actual rehab, buttttttt it’s a delicious healthy food cafe. So….I’M IN.
They have smoothies, acai bowls, raw pad thai salads, mexican bowls, juice shots, ETC. I got the pad thai salad, a pineapple kale smoothie, and a ginger shot. Everything was so light and refreshing and tasty and made me feel healthy from the inside out. The ginger shot was literal death but v necessary after a week of traveling. So if you’re in Queenstown and need some healthy AF food, come here.
2. Vudu Cafe Queenstown
Probably some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had in my entire LIFE. This place is super popular in Queenstown because it is INCREDIBLE. Not everything is vegan but their vegan options were OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. They put literal magic in their food. That or cocaine. Either way, I’m happy #wink
THE VEGAN PANCAKES. DON’T GET ME STARTED. I WANT TO CRY WHEN I THINK ABOUT THEM. Best vegan pancakes in the entire universe. Yes, better than those really good vegan pancakes you had on Mars.
I swear to the vegan gods, these pancakes tasted what I imagine PURE DEEP TRUE LOVE to taste like. They were fluffy like clouds and sweetened to perfection and the maple syrup? YES. My friends were legit annoyed at me because of how much I raved about these pancakes. Come to New Zealand just for these pancakes.
I do have to say tho, I got a soy chai and it was literally AWFUL lol. So don’t do it bitch!!!
The next day I came back and got their squash/pumpkin soup and their french fries (the ketchup came in a bottle shaped like a tomato and I’m really sad it’s not in my life anymore). BEST SOUP EVER. BEST FRIES EVER.
THIS PLACE IS THE BEST PLACE EVER. (But lowkey worst chai ever #LOL)
3. Fergburger
This place is like word wide famous for some reason. Like the line is like always three blocks down. Like if you come to Queenstown but don’t come to Fergburger, then you’re not on the in-crowd or something. We waited in line for a while like everybody else and finally got our burger and it was mediocre. Definitely overrated. Like it was tasty but it wasn’t WORLDWIDE FAMOUS tasty. Ya know?
Vudu should have had a line out the door. NA DIS PLACE. The only vegan one is the ‘Holier Than Thou’ without the satay sauce and the aioli. Granted it was a MASSIVE burger so it’s slightly worth the wait because it’s like the size of my head and it was tasty, just not incredible.
4. Bespoke Kitchen
Apparently it’s got the same owner as Vudu? but like nothing beats Vudu so I don’t know if it’s worth coming here? BUT. I still had some yummy shit here. They have a whole dessert case, a couple vegan options on the menus, and lots of smoothies and stuff.
I got the orange infused vegan pancakes, the hot lemon honey tea, and the vegan snickers. The vegan snickers and tea were BALLER. The pancakes were just alright (like I said, nothing compares to Vudu). My friends really liked them but I just thought they tasted like someone poured orange juice on them.
Anyway, the vibes were on point, the tea and the dessert were really good, so definitely check it out if you have time, but…..Vudu first.
5. Cookie Muncher Bar
Legit a cookie shop. I went in with my friends not expecting to see anything vegan but they actually have a vegan chocolate chip cookie! So i got it. Honestly, not that good but I appreciate the effort!!
Anyway, DEFF comes to Queenstown because it’s an adorable place and the vegan pancakes are life changing.
