Brighton Beach Memoirs, am I right ladies and gents? Yeah, well it turns out that play takes place in Brooklyn… go figure.
Anyway, for those of you who don’t know what Brighton is… it’s like the Venice Beach of London. Vegan, hippy, beachy, alternative, street art, you get the gist. If London was a hardworking, classy buisness woman who wore kitten heels, Brighton is like it’s stoner, vegan, surfer cousin.
So if you’re vegan and live in the area or are visiting, I totally recommend taking a day trip here. The train ride is not long at all and it’s totally worth it. You’re about to find out why #suspense
Most of the restaurants I encountered either had a crazy amount of vegan options or were 100% vegan. Insane, right?
Anyway, here is a list of all the place you can go and I will post pictures. Most of these (with the exception of Purezza) were all on one street. It’s an incredibly small place so you could definitly hit up all these places in a few hours lol
Gelato Gusto:
If you want BALLER gelato, go to Gelato Gusto. They have vegan SALTED CARAMEL AND CHOCOLATE GELATO IN CHOCOLATE DIPPED CONES. NUFF SAID. BYE.
Oh AND vegan brownies!!!!! #swoon
Infinity Foods Cafe:
. Another all-vegan cafe with premade salads and sandwhiches, as well as hot food including vegan mac and cheese (I KNOW) and rice/curry dishes #sorandom but yeah.
Anyway, I got the “Sweet Potato, Edamame and Miso dip, tartar sauce, and spinach” sandwich on rice bread and it was so so yummy. Quick and easy to eat and I loved the flavor! Craving it as I type.
We didn’t go here, but also on the street was a vegan falafel place and The Loving Hut which is like a vegan chinese fast foods chain that is literally EVERYWHERE, like they have them in LA and I’m pretty sure NY too. Wasn’t expecting to see one in Brighton, but you know what, it can join the party.
Also there was a coffee shop that said “extensive vegan options” painted on the storeglass, but I didn’t catch the name of it and I deeply apologize (but at the same time idc lol) . We did peek inside though and saw that they had a few vegan desserts and a vegan Mexican pastry that looks pretty dank. So if you go, lmk if you try it!!
So just to further emphasize how vegan friendly this ONE STREET is, there was an 100% vegan perfume making/mixology shop called “Eden” (sorry for the bad pic). Like I don’t even know what the fuck that is, but rock on!! And on top of that, there was a 100% vegetarian shoe shop (aka vegan) that only sold boots and sneaks with faux leather. Like whatttttt. Who knew Brighton was hella vegan?!?
On top of that, the cinema on that street served VEGAN PIZZA, vegan chocolate, and vegan snacks. What is this alternate universe I spent the day in?!? I didn’t get anything because I had just scarfed down gelato but I DID see Logan and the little actress who plays X-23 blew my mind. What a badass. When I was her age, I was just trying to get the popular girls at school to like me #smh #theyneverdid
Last but certainly NOT least: PUREZZA, the 100% ALL VEGAN PIZERIA #DED
I know, like WHY IS BRIGHTON PERFECT!?
First of all, the waiters were all incredibly kind and helpful. Second of all all the cocktails are vegan and are incredibly delicious!!! I forgot what I ended up getting but the waitor recommended it. I know it had the word “Italian” in it and had a shit ton of cherry grenadine so yum!
In terms of food, A++++++++++++++
We got the gluten-free Island pizza to share (pinapple, vegan ham chunks, and PURPLE SWEET POTATO SLICES #byeeee) so fucking good. The crust was so good (unlike most gluten-free crusts), the cheese was on point, and the toppings were everything.
We also had the mac n cheese which was yumazing and I also got…. drumroll please-
BALLS OF DOUGH FILLED WITH CHEESE. ENOUGH SAID. I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN. I WANT THEM EVERYDAY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.
Guys and gals, if you’re in London for more than a week and are vegan and DON’T go to Brighton, imma judge you.
