I am blogging about Vandal: the chic downtown NYC restaurant… not as in the crime “vandalizing,” although you know I love a good Banksy. (Real talk: Is Banksy overrated? I feel like maybe??) 

Anyway, back to the review. My boyfriend, Josh, took me to Vandal on a date night the other night. Not only is it a restaurant done by the same people who did TAO, but it’s also super trendy and (*drumroll*) HAS A WHOLE VEGAN MENU!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I just nutted. 

Most restaurants that have vegan menus usually have like three options including a mixed green salad, a boring pasta dish, and sorbet. Sometimes when I see those menus, I want to smash my head with the bread plate.

But Vandal isn’t like other girls. Their menu was extensive with all sorts of interesting dishes from cauliflower tacos to vegan tomato pizza to eggplant meatballs! 

You know a vegan menu is good when you get stressed about to order because there are so many options. 

So, being my basic self, I, of course, got the frosé to start (frozen rosé for those of you who live under a rock). It tasted like a 7/11 slushee (that’s a compliment for all you pretentious people out there) and it was also beautiful looking! 

For my appetizer, I got the cauliflower tacos, which were amazing, but I wasn’t crazy about the gochujang sauce (but I think that’s more of a preference thing).

 

For the meal, I was planning on the pizza, but the waitress was like “GET THE FUCKING EGGPLANT MEATBALLS BITCH” (ok not verbatim, but it was implied). So I got the eggplant meatballs- out of fear- and I actually LOVED them! They were like these eggplant-mashed potatoey- saucy balls that were delicious and satisfying. I will 10/10 get them again when I go back!

For dessert, I want to praise the heavens for there being more options than just “sorbet.” Not only did they have a selection of SPIKED popsicles, they also had a meringue sandwich filled with chocolate pudding, topped with vegan whipped cream. I INHALED it. It was so delicious and creative.
