I cannot express hummus I love this place. See what I did there?
No, but for realz tho, if you are from LA and love Fala Bar or from New York and love Maoz/Taim, this is your new spot.
Like all of the aforementioned falafel places, The Hummus Republic, located in West Hollywood, is essential a falafel/hummus bar where you can create your own falafel sandwiches, salads, and/or bowls. Not to mention, their toppings bar is unlimited so you can literally go ham on it (vegan ham, of course 😉 hehe).
Anyway, I decided to do a half salad/half bowl, so the base was spinach and warmed up chickpeas. Then I added regular hummus and kalamata olive hummus on top (you can pick up to three scoops/flavors), falafel balls (they also had a vegan veggie option and spicy vegan mock meat option), and then I added literally every single vegan topping they offered. From what I remembered, that included pickled white cabbage, pickled red cabbage, Israeli salad, tabouli, kale & pomegranate salad, and a few other things I can’t remember. Then I drizzled it all in good ‘ole tahini.
And and and I got a cute little pocket of a warmed up pita on the side that seemed very cozy in its little sleeping bag.
It was super delicious! Personally, not as good as Fala Bar, but a close LA second!
However, Hummus Republic has Fala Bar beat on the drink selection. My friend Rebecca and I split a CHOCOLATE TAHINI milkshake and it was bomb!!!!!!!!! 100/10. Soooooooo good. If you like tahini, GET THIS. I’m def going back for another one.
Also, I would be remiss to mention that they have a giant neon sign saying “eat my balls” on the wall of the store, so there’s that.
