Okay, so, in the midst of Little Tokyo, is this little mall and inside the mall on the third floor is this all-vegan Japanese restaurant named Shojin!
The waiters are so incredibly friendly and want to make sure you are comfortable while you’re eating there. They put your napkin on your lap and even push in your chair. It was adorable! They even have a slip of paper on their table for newbie first comers like us explaining the concept of their restaurant and what it means to be vegan. It was so sweet. (As in awesome and nice and probably delicious. I mean, eating paper is normal, right?)
Anyway, Bella, Mackenna, and I got three dishes to share. The spicy “tuna” on crispy rice, the avocado apricot salad, and the dragon roll (avocado, BBQ seitan, and sweet soy sauce). For drinks, Bella and I got the pink lemonade (grapefruit juice, lemon, beet sugar, sparkling water) and Mackenna got the green tea lemonade. We all really liked the drinks.
We really liked the spiny tuna on crispy rice. It is a bit small to share one portion like we did, but it was a good appetizer. Just make sure to ask without the jalapeno on top if you don’t like spicy stuff. The spice hit me right after I was done and my lips got so hot I panicked if I was getting an allergic reaction. Then I calmed my hypochondriac inclinations and kept eating.
The salad was okay. A bit small, but the dressing was good. And I LOVED the dragon roll. I am the mother of dragon rolls. I am the khaleesi of dragon rolls. Delicious. The sweet soy sauce and the BBq setian and avocado made such a good mix of savory and sweat and yumminess so I def recomend that.
Also, we were gonna get the green tea soufle but we were told it was so small, that if we shared it, we would each get only one bite. Like dudes, did you make the souffle in a bottle cap? What’s going on here? We’re not birds. We are teenage girls. We should at least each be getting thirty bites out of this thing. At least. Anyway, check it out if you’re in the area!
