So, life update, I recently just got a new job (weird flex, but ok) and it’s in Echo Park, which is pretty much the vegan/hippie hub of LA. How so? Well, all within a block of my job is Yoga-urt (vegan ice cream shop), Mohawk Bend (restaurant with sooo many vegan options), Chipotle, and Roots & Rye. I can literally walk 20 seconds from my job and get lunch at any of these places. 

But anyway, I know what you all are thinking. What is Roots & Rye and do they sell… roots and rye!? Well, sort of. You see, Roots & Rye is a newly opened acai bowl/smoothie/milkshake/toast place, but it’s more than just that. 

You can layer your acai bowl with traditional acai, charcoal acai, matcha acai, blue Majik acai, overnight oats, and/or chia pudding. HOW DOPE IS THAT!? You can literally make an acai bowl parfait!! PLUS (oh yes honey, it gets better) YOU GET UNLIMITED TOPPINGS for no additional price!! Like… how is that even real!? Is this place a money-laundering front??

Roots & Rye has literally every topping you can imagine. They have every superfood on the planet (cacao, goji, chia, etc), fruit (including dates and THREE types of coconut shreds), a variety of granola flavors, hot gooey nut butters (almond, peanut, cashew, sun butter), and syrups (like date syrup, agave, honey, etc.) This is the Chipotle of acai and I’ve never been more excited in my life. Yes, I’m basic, I know. Let’s move on. 

I ended up getting the charcoal acai topped with normal acai. Then I added French vanilla granola, acai, blueberries, strawberries, dates, bananas, cacao nibs, date syrup, toasted coconut shreds, and hot, gooey almond butter. It was so lit, I can’t even. My wig literally flew. 

They also have milkshakes, smoothies, and avocado/nut butter toast (with unlimited toppings), so I will certainly be back to try more! If you’re near or in the Echo Park area, I 100% recommend checking it out.

It’s literally basic girl heaven and I’m here for it.
