I’m gonna start this post mentioning HOW LONG I’ve been on the hunt for vegan ramen. Literally a few months ago, my friend and I went to find vegan ramen one night and EVERY SINGLE ramen place with vegan options was closed. Literally, every other restaurant was open that night, except for the ones with vegan ramen. So, after much frustration, I eventually gave up on my vegan ramen dreams and went on with my ramen-less life.
However, they always say, things pop up when you stop looking for them and voila! My friend invited me to dinner at Robata Jinya and, lo and behold, right on the menu in bold letters was VEGAN SPICY RAMEN. I died. Excitement would be an understatement (and yes, I always get this excited for food, ok!?).
Anyway, Robata Jinya is this quaint little sushi place in West Hollywood with literally tons of vegan options and super nice staff. For starters, they have vegan ramen. They also have a “make your own tofu” dish which I can’t explain in this blog, but it’s very cool in person lol. In addition, they have vegetable rolls and a whole section of the menu dedicated to various veggies you can get grilled on skewers (just make sure to ask for them to made vegan- sans butter). How cool!!
So I got the ramen and, yes, all my wildest dreams came true. IT WAS DELECTIBLE. The noodles were so delicious and the broth was just the right amount of creamy and not very spicy at all.I want it again. Like right now.
I also got the vegan version of the grilled sweet potato skewers and THOSE WERE EVERYTHING. Literally so crunchy on the outside, but soft and sweet on the inside. Next time, I’m getting like five of them.
Lastly, I got the vegetable roll. I have to say, I wasn’t crazy about it. Kind of eh. I would leave it out next time.
Anyway, I totally recommend this place and wish you all the best on your future vegan ramen quest.
