If you’ve never been to Seattle, Seattle is basically an urban version of Portland! And if you’re never been to Portland…. well good luck picturing what Seattle is like!
Pike Place Market is this adorable outdoor/indoor market with these little stands that sell spices and food and all kinds of yummy things. Part of the charm of Seattle is that it’s a huge city but it feels very small and homey.
There’s even a massive piggybank pig in the middle of the market that people put money into and all the money goes back into the community. So cute!
In Pike Place Market we went to:
1.) The Spice Market
It was this shop with all kinds of spices and herbs that my friend Rebekah who lives in Seattle showed me. And in the back, you can try some of their tea and one of their teas literally tasted like apple cider. It was so incredible.
2.) Three Girls Bakery
This bakery was so adorable! It wasn’t all vegan but they had an apple Strudel and a cinnamon palmier (otherwise known as an elephant ear in the bakery community) that was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. I legit have not had an elephant ear pasty in 7 years and they used to be one of my favorite pastries. It was so fricken yummy I was shook! So flakey and cinnamon-y and sugary MMMM. Also the woman working at the stand was so incredibly nice and told us how she campaigned to get vegan options on the menu and was very proud of how they turned out. Gotta love Seattle! Everybody is so nice!
3.) Cinnamon Works
We passed this stand as we were making our way to the Starbucks and not everything was vegan but they had vegan cinnamon rolls, vegan muffins, vegan cookies, etc. I got a vegan chocolate chip cookie with nuts (usually I hate nuts in cookies but this time I was feeling it). GUYS GUYS GUYS. The cookie was the size of my head and tasted INCREDIBLE. Like it tasted chewy but doughy and chocolatey and magical. SO good.
4.) The Original (YES original) Starbucks
So apparently this wasn’t the *original* Starbucks because the first one got moved to Pike Place Market, but it is the most original that exists! You have to wait in line to get in because it’s that popular, but once inside, it goes by pretty fast and even though the employees were incredibly busy, they still took time to ask us about our trip which I thought was really nice.
Also side note… the old Starbucks symbol is weirdly sexual?
