Nobu is about the coolest Japanese restaurant in da world (i mean , they have one in Nyc, London, Bahamas, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Dubai…the list goes on). It is so hip, my sister even saw Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone on a date there! (i’m not a big celeb fan, but i know the celebrity status brings the customers in. I mean how else do things like Twitter, boyfriend jeans, short hair cuts, and terking get popular? )
So we went to Nobu (Fifty Seven in nyc) for the fist time as vegans. We had the avocado and vegetable rolls, the baby spinach salad (make sure to ask for it to be accommodated to vegans), and the shiitake mushroom salad (ask to make sure as well). Also, highly recommend the lychee mango drink. Everything was amazing. Nobu wins again. Seriously, they just never fail. It’s like that really smart kid in my grade who just got into Harvard.
Side note: Well they did fail once (Nobu, not the kid). We’ve been two times since we became vegan. The first time, the waiter was super friendly, telling us his girlfriend was a vegan, so rest assured, we felt safe in trusted company. But as we all know, every fairytale needs a villain. He gave us everything i just listed before, with one extra dish, and all was well. When we came back the second time, we ordered the same things along with the crispy kale that he told us we could order the last time but DUN DUN DUHHHHH, we were told (by a different waiter duh) that the crispy kale was not vegan and could not be made vegan because of the butter. So yes this is a confession: for one night i was not a vegan. But the more important matter here is that, that waiter’s girlfriend is dating a straight up Pinocchio.
