I was super bored one day and searched up “vegan Los Angeles” into Twitter’s search bar and came across a fire looking vegan sushi picture from Gokuku, which I had never heard of! I checked Postmates and saw that it was available for delivery and was quite shocked that I had never seen it before on the app. There were SO many different types of interesting, unique sushi to choose from. I don’t think everything on the menu is vegan BUT they clearly label what is and what isn’t.

What made me so excited to order from here is that usually the most interesting vegan sushi can get is having a pickled vegetable in it or a tomato that substitutes for tuna sashimi. Gokoku goes ALL OUT. They had vegan dragon rolls, vegan eel rolls, vegan shrimp tempura rolls, etc! It is a little pricey but they give you SO MUCH FOOD. I legit could not have finished both rolls + the vegan bao I got even if somebody paid me. I think I’ll have leftovers for the rest of the week. Anybody want any? Bring your tupperware over.

I got the ‘hot and hot roll’ which had vegan cream cheese, vegan spicy tuna, avocado and a vegan sauce. BOY IS THAT SPICY. I asked for it without the jalapeños and it was still so damn spicy (more of an after kick), but it was SOOO good. Like my lips were tingling after but I kept going in for more.

I also got the ‘volcano roll’ which was a vegan california roll with spicy tuna, covered in tempura with a vegan sauce. That one was also SO delicious, super hefty, and really filling. I ate two bites and was stuffed. I feel like it was enough sushi for like four people. So yummy though!!!

Last but not least, I got the bulgogi vegan bao buns which were yummy but the sauce/meat was a little too salty for meh! The actual bao bun itself was divine though.

Anyway, check this place out if your depressed like I am! Because nothing makes life better than a fuck ton of sushi!
