I think I have officially lived my Saltburn fantasy minus all the weird shit Barry Keoghan did in that movie!? If you all haven’t heard of Estelle Manor, well, buckle up. It’s a hotel (aka manor) located in Oxfordshire, South East England, 2 hours outside of London. Not only do they have a beautiful sprawling estate that made me feel like I was both in Saltburn and Downton Abbey, but they also have a ton of delicious restaurants, a gorgeous pool, a famous bath house, and countless fancy, British activities on property. Also Brad Pitt was there when we were there. I’m not a huge BP fan, but I guess it’s a flex?
Anyway, my sis, friend, and I decided to get out of London for a bit and head to the countryside to enjoy a night at Estelle. Firstly, it’s STUNNING in person. Secondly, everyone is so nice there. Thirdly, they had a ton of delicious vegan food options.
To start, the Brasserie and outdoor dining had a legit plant-based cheese burger on their menu. Insane. It was made with vegan cheese, lettuce, a veggie patty, tomato, vegan burger sauce, pickles, and beetroot jam. Super yummy and perfect for a little lunch by the pool!
Then, we had dinner at another on-site restaurant called The Glasshouse, which is located in this room with entirely glass walls and ceilings. Very pretty. I’m not sure what the normal menu looks like, but the night we stayed at the manor, they were having Indian food night with a preset menu. However, they were graciously able to accommodate for us vegans with zero hassle at all.
To start, we got some chutneys and dipping sauces, a beetroot falafel fritter of sorts, and a puffed rice and chickpea salad. Then, for the main course, we got some chips for dippings, roti (so flakey and delicious), Indian rice, chickpea curry, and a warm mushroom dish. It was honestly pretty delicious and filling! Not the BEST Indian food I’ve ever had, but I was blown away by the countless vegan options and accommodations!
Next on the list was the breakfast we had at the Brasserie, this time indoors. They also had a bunch of vegan options too! We ended up getting the brûléed grapefruit and the vegan truffle mushroom toast with vegan cream cheese. Both were INCREDIBLE. 10/10 breakfast. Not to mention, they also had a vegan version of a traditional English breakfast that we didn’t try, but it seemed super yummy.
Overall, loved our stay and if you are #blessed with the chance to come here, you – as a vegan – will be more than taken care of. Now, brb, going to go cry that it was Brad Pitt and not Jacob Elordi visiting at the same time…
