Don’t you love going to random, small towns and unexpectedly finding an abundance of vegan options? Me too!!! Ok, well, my little sister (who is also vegan) goes to boarding school in a RANDOM AF little town in Connecticut and, to all our surprise, the little town is chock-full of vegan grub.
Not only does the town of Wallingford have an all-vegan restaurant called Pure Alchemy, but it also has an adorably cute (was that redundant?) diner called Colony Diner with amazing vegan options. Plus, it’s all within walking distance of the school! How rad is that? The only thing I had in walking distance of my high school was a Starbucks and it was full of old men who hated high schoolers!!
Ok, enough about how much I hated my high school, back to the diner. Although the whole dinner is not vegan, they have the vegan options very clearly marked on the menu and even have a little disclaimer on the front talking about the vegan options.
To start our feast, the sistas and I all got the vegan cinnamon milkshakes. I know you all are like “cinnamon? what a lame flavor” but, oh, you are sorely mistaken. THEY WERE CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH MILKSHAKES!!! So freaking amazing. Probably one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had. It had delicious little chunks of cinnamon toast crunch swirled into the vegan ice cream and ugh, I could really go for one right now.
For the meal, my sisters and I split the vegan breakfast hash, the vegan BLT and fries, and the vegan pancakes with vegan whipped butter and fruit on the side. I love, love, loved the BLT…so much so, that I realized I could probably only eat BLT’s for the rest of my life and be VERY content.
Bella liked the hash, but wasn’t crazy about it and Leila really liked the pancakes. The fries were also bomb. So yeah, if you ever find yourself meandering around Wallingford and craving diner food, come here!!! You won’t regret it!
