If you have no life, like me, and spend an embarrassing amount of hours on Tik Tok, then you MUST know about the current Tik Tok trend of wrapping sorbet or gelato in a fruit roll-up and eating it like a taco. Why do this? Because the cold of the gelato freezes the fruit roll up and makes it crunchy! IDK, it’s fun. Sue me.
Regardless, my sister and I HAD to try this or we were gonna go crazy, so we stopped at Anita Gelato in NYC to finally try it. Well, we stopped there after going to target to get fruit rollups first ofc.
Surprisingly, this place had TONS of vegan gelato options. Most of them were fruit flavors, as expected, but they did have some really interesting fruit flavors outside of the usual ones like watermelon lime, pineapple, canteloupe, etc. They also had a dark chocolate gelato and all the vegan flavors were marked with a little green dot. How helpful! Whoever came up with that idea deserves to get orgasmic head. (Was that too much?)
Anyway, we ended up getting the dark chocolate and the strawberry (for the Tik Tok trend). The dark chocolate was DELICIOUS. It was so thick and decadent and tasted like brownie brittle. I would definitely have it again. The strawberry was also fresh and light and delicious and even better when enveloped in a crunchy fruit roll-up.
If you’re vegan and missing Italian gelato, this is your spot. Also, try the Tik Tok trend. It’s low-key fire.
