Sage Bistro Vegan Thanksgiving Review

Sorry, I know this Thanksgiving post is coming a little late, but better late than never, right peeps!?

So, as you all know, being vegan during the holidays, especially around Thanksgiving, can be super tough. Either you’re spending it with your non-vegan family or, in Covid times, you’re spending it alone and don’t want to go to the germy supermarket to get all your vegan goods. Well, luckily, we live in the vegan capital of the world – Los Angeles – which means we lucked out with a bunch of vegan restaurants offering premade vegan meals in our area.

We usually order from Veggie Grill and have LOVED their Thanksgiving meals in the past, but, this year, VG decided to include pot pies instead of vegan turkey (OKAAYYYY???), which we thought was #LAME, so instead, we decided to venture outwards to other restaurants to find the vegan Thanksgiving meal of our dreams.

In a last minute decision, we decided to go with Sage Vegan Cafe and Bistro and get individuals plates of their Thanksgiving meal, along with mini sweet potato pumpkin pies. The plate came with mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, a seitan loaf, stuffing, and collard greens.

Our review: 0/10 lmao. It was so, so bad. The seitan “turkey” tasted like breaded cardboard and everything else waspretty flavorless. The only thing we both loved was the cranberry sauce, but, like, that’s pretty hard to f*ck up, right?  The pies were also super gelatinous and weird tasting. We ended up getting the vegan apple pies from McDonalds and those were 100/10.

I obviously appreciate them trying their best, but next Thankgiving, maybe skip on Sage and play it safe with yummy Veggie Grill and reliable McDonald pies LOL.
