For those of you who are like “what the PLUCK is Mother Plucker!??” (see what I did there?), I will explain. In the words of the actual website, it says “From the minds of Honeybee Burger and Mr Charlie’s comes a classic chicken joint with NBA legend John Salley featuring all vegan fried chicken classics.”
I mean, vegan fried chicken classics? Count me the PLUCK in. (God, this is getting old, isn’t it?).
So my sister, friend, and I (all writers) decided to come here to eat after an afternoon of WGA strike picketing. Picketing by day, chickening by night. Ok, someone stop me. These puns are getting lethally annoying.
Anyway, I got their 5 piece tender combo (5 tenders, fries, and coleslaw) with a side of BBQ, ketchup, and their ranch. I also got the side of french toast which came with maple syrup. AND, ofc there’s more, I got a half watermelon, half mango agua fresca.
Bella got the 3 piece tender combo with a side of the mini oreo pancakes (like are you kidding me!?) and a THIN MINT MILKSHAKE. Bye. These people know whats up.
Here are my rapid fire reviews for everything:
- Tenders. Delish. 7/10. Super tasty. Breading was great. Really good dipped in the sauces, esp the maple syrup. Not mind-blowing, but a solid chickie tendie.
- Fries. Also delish. 7/10. Not the best fries ever, but far from the worst. Got the job done.
- Cole slaw. 4/10. The dressing tasted like their ranch. Had a nice crunch though!
- French toast. Solid. 5/10. The bread was super fluffy and good dunked in the syrup, which I love, but it felt like it could have used some more batter to soak into the thick bread. I ate half and enjoyed that half but wasn’t running to finish the second piece.
- Oreo pancakes. Really yummy! 7 or 8/10. The oreos were killer and they were so cute and perfect size.
- Aqua fresca. Again 7/10. Really yummy and refreshing, but a little artificial tasting.
- Thin Mint milkshake. 7/10. 8 for the inclusion of Thin Mints and 7 for the base. I wish the chunks of cookie were a bit bigger.
And that’s it, people! Bella said it reminds her of something you could get at Disneyland if Disney were all vegan and I think that pretty much sums it up. Like carnival food or fair food. Solid and tasty, but nothing mind blowing. How cute in the interior though??
