If you know anything about Melbourne (which I’m assuming you don’t? lol), St. Kilda Beach is such a fun, vibey, beachy area. A little out of the way but SO worth the trek. Apparently at sunset, you can see the little penguins running on the beach. St. Kilda reminds me a lot of Venice, California. Very laid-back and beachy. The vibes are seriously ON POINT.
So, naturally, one of the vibey-est vegan cafes would be located in St. Kilda. I introduce you to: Matcha Mylkbar. An all vegan, mostly matcha themed, cafe. HOW COOL IS THAT. Melbourne seriously SLAYS the brunch game.
So, because it was my first time here, I ordered like 12 things. Okay 4, but that’s still a lot for one person. GIMME FOOD.
To start, I got the peanut butter latte. Not the most strong in flavor, but very pretty to look at (and post on my snapchat story LOL)
For food, I couldn’t decide between 3 things so naturally I GOT ALL THREE. Go big or go home, am I right kids?
So, to start I got the poached eggs/eggs benedict thing with corn fritters (I forget the actual name). But….You read that right. EGGS.
Yes, this place has literally engineered vegan eggs. They have a yolk inside and everything and they taste INCREDIBLE. They did stain my fingers yellow (no I wasn’t eating with my fingers #psh), but they were SO yummy. I could really go for some right now.
Then, I got the matcha chicken burger which was also very delicious and so fucking cool to look at. Even the fries had matcha powder on them! LIKE WTF. Am I in Melbourne or vegan paradise??? Im so confused.
And last but not least, the MATCHA PANCAKES. Yes, the sauce on top looks a little questionable #sorrynotsorry BUT the pancakes were super yummy and even more delicious with the INCREDIBLE macadamia ice cream on the side. (Macadamia nuts are pretty popular in Melbourne. They have macadamia nut milk options at some restaurants).
Also one of the waiters was SO HOT and friendly.
So would I come back here? Abso-fucking-lutely.
More for the food than the dude, but a side of hot guys never hurt nobody 😉
Keep calm and matcha on, folks!
