A vegan pop-tart, a savory galette, and a donut twist is straight up Just What I Kneaded last weekend. See what I did there? I’m a pun master.
Puns aside, Just What I Kneaded is a vegan bakery tucked away in a little quaint corner of Los Feliz in Los Angeles. My sister and I had been hearing about how delicious this place was forever (and had seen countless drool-worthy pics of it on IG), so we decided to stop by on our way to a party that was in that part of town.
The bakery is both a bakery and cafe, in which you can order items off a menu or just order items to-go from their display case, which is what we did. Everything here is 100% vegan, which also means everything here is 100% rad. Does anyone use the word rad anymore??? Did they ever use the word rad??
We got the pretty, sparkly pop-tart (can’t resist a sparkly dessert), a donut twist (which I believe they said was Belgian or something??), and a pizza-esque pastry tart. All of them were AMAZING.
That Belgian donut rocked my freaking world. It was a little undercooked in parts tbh, but that aside, I could have had twelve in a row. The dough was so light and fluffy and the cinnamon sugar was perfect on top. The pizza tart was also amazing and the pop-tart was delicious too – I just wish it had filling in it.
Would I trek all the way to Los Feliz for this bakery in particular? Probably not. But if I was in the area, would I stop for a box of pastries? You bet you vegan ass I would.
