Eat Drink Vegan 2019

Everyone in the vegan community knows that Eat Drink Vegan is basically the vegan equivalent of Coachella. And if you aren’t in the vegan community, let me enlighten you. Eat Drink Vegan is a giant food, wine, beer, and kombucha festival that takes place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena every year. Each year, the festival brings in a bunch of different vegan food, drink, apparel, and skin care companies to sell/sample their products to the public.

Famous vegan influencers also come and do cooking demos as well. Fun fact, Bella and I actually met the incredible Lauren Toyota here at last years Eat Drink Vegan event which was fu**ing awesome. She’s so cool and nice in person.

Anyway, this year my sissy and one of my besties, Jay, and I ventured out to Pasadena to stuff our faces with vegan yummies because… why not???

One of the best parts about this festival is that they actually give everyone a free little glass (well, not totally free, the tickets were 50 bucks lol) upon arrival so they can try all the stands that give out complimentary kombucha, wine, beer, and coffee samples. I’m not even kidding when I tell you we tried like ten different kombucha brands and all of them were baller. My stomach was literally FULL of booch.

My only complaint about the festival is that, due to its popularity, the lines for certain stands can get REALLY long. Last year we got the VIP tickets which were baller because we could cut every line and just be assholes about it and get our food first… but this year we forgot to get them and it limited how many places we wanted to go to because I hate waiting in lines. BUT we did go to two amazing places.

The first place we went to was called Pizza By Round Two. They had some super interesting pizza flavors, including a collab with Monty’s Burgers, but the three of us were a classic NYC-style pizza slice, so we ended up getting the “plain jane.” It was soooooooooo good. The cheese was ooey-gooey, the sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and savory, and the crust was delish. We even debated going back for seconds.

The second thing we got were vegan bubble waffles from Vaffls. I’m not even kidding, I have seen these waffles EVERYWHERE on Instagram, but have never been able to find a vegan one, so having one of these today was a literal dream of mine. Clearly, I dream big, ladies and gents. No, but actually, it was soooooooo yummy. All three of us got the S’mores flavor which consisted of a chocolate bubble waffle filled with warm chocolate sauce, graham cracker pieces, mini marshmallows, and whipped cream. It was so good that I creamed my pants. That’s a joke, obviously. But metaphorically, that did happen.

They also had a bunch of apparel stands, like this one which I thought was kinda funny because instead of saying “Off White” it says “Off- Meat.”  Vegan apparel designers are pretty clever with their puns, I will admit.

They also had a few vegan skincare stands, like more known brands such as Osea and smaller brands like this one: Lulu’s Homemade Organic Skincare.

They were also selling vegan art. I ended up buying a little painting of a pig for my childhood nanny from New York who’s obsessed with pigs.

The festival runs from 2-8 (12-8 if you are VIP #imsalty), but most of the food runs out at around 5:30, so if you plan on going, go early like we did. Needless to say, we left with our bellies full and our hearts happy.
