Don’t you just love it when a French bakery decides to open an entirely vegan version of their restaurant right next door? Ugh, the modern world is so vegan-friendly, it makes me want to burst with joy. When I first became vegan, the only vegan option was the veggie burger at Johnny Rockets (am I dating myself here? I swear I’m young). But NOW, French cafes are opening vegan versions of themselves!!! Being vegan in Los Angeles is such a treat.
Chaumont Vegan serves the most beautiful, delectable vegan pastries. They are, dare I say, better than Laduree in Beverly Hills (which is another French cafe that created an entire vegan version of itself!) I will say the competition is a close call tho. I still love Lauduree.
Chaumont Vegan’s was so popular when it opened, that you had to order ahead or get in line at 7:30 AM or else everything would be sold out. It’s chilled out a bit more since s and you can go later in the morning and still have tons of pastries to choose from. They have both savory and sweet options like croissants, olive oil cakes, cheesy flatbreads, and more!
I ordered a matcha cream croissant, a pizza flatbread thing, a chocolate almond croissant, an almond croissant, and an apricot swirl. Everything tastes SOOOO fresh, so luxurious, so delicious, SO DECADENT. I legit ate 6 pastries that morning because they were so good. I loveD all of them equally except I could have done without the chocolate almond croissant. It was good, but I already had a regular almond croissant and the chocolate didn’t add anything to it. But really, everything was straight up 10/10
If you’re in LA, you must come here for delicious, vegan pastries. They’re also beautiful too and if you order ahead of time, the box comes with a beautiful flower on top. Perfect for a gift.
