If you follow any vegan Instagrammers in Sydney, you have DEFinetly heard of this restaurant. You know, with the cute little colorful dumplings and such? It’s ALL the buzz. Their vegan yum cha (similar to dim sum) is their big thing. And if you don’t know what dim sum is, didn’t your mom ever take you to China Town as a kid? No? Is that weirdly specific to my life? Or like, do you guys know what i’m talking about?
BASICALLY, yum cha/dim sum is when you sit down and waiters and waitresses (why is this word split by gender? #confused) bring around trays of food and you basically just take what you want. WHICH IS DANGEROUS ON SO MANY LEVELS.
Not because of the calories (sorry I don’t value my worth on my body image #FuckOffPatriarchy) but because of MONEY. I BLEW MY MONEY AT THIS PLACE BECAUSE I HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH EACH THING COST. WARNING. Also I’m an idiot for not checking. But what’s new.
AND THAT WAS ONLY some OF IT.
Anyway, the food was super tasty but my friend and I were SO FULL because we had just come from breakfast so it was hard to fully enjoy everything. Was this my favorite place ever? Did it live up to the hype? Not exactly. But if I had been hungry when I had it, I’d probably have a different answer for you. I have to say tho, the vegan shrimp was weirdly realistic.
