What inspired you to go vegan?
M: I always struggled with my image and being happy with myself. I readily found things I hated on my body and had a really unhealthy relationship with food/exercise. After trying veganism however, everything seemed to fall into place. I quickly realized that I felt my best living off of a plan based diet – both mentally and physically.
M: Hmmmm, there are SO many. Since i’m originally based out of Connecticut, I would definitely say my go-to there, is a juice bar called The Stand. They have a multiple locations in the area and never disappoint! There is also a Juice Press a couple towns away from me which is great to have for something quick. Also Organic Pharmer in Rye, NY is amazing if I really wanna take a drive. In NYC, I always make sure to stop by By Chloe for a vegan burger. Literally the first time I tried it I had to double check it was vegan, it was that good. Other places are The Butchers Daughter in NoLita and peacefood cafe (two words: CHICKPEA FRIES). In Mass, Veggie Galaxy & FoMu. If you are EVER in the area, these places are essential to your visit. Literally best vegan junk of my life.
M: I love to make anything involving sweet potatoes. They’re great because you can do so many things with them just by seasoning or cooking them differently. I think my most favorite thing I’ve ever made though is definitely my raw vegan caramel bar slices (I have a video on my youtube channel making them/recipe!!!).
M: Often when you tell people you’re vegan, they have this predisposition that you dont eat…which is absolutely false. I literally think I can out eat any of my friends – just with plants! 🙂
M: I definitely think the misconceptions about the lifestyle. Often people confuse the lifestyle with under-eating. This can be true to a certain extent, and I respect the concerns of others in this regard however if one is to eat abundantly on the vegan lifestyle (filled with the right amount of fruits/veggies/carbs, etc.) there is no negative effect.
M: THE ENERGY. I feel soooo alive eating the way I do and have never looked back. Also the community and meeting such fascinating cool people who all enjoy/appreciate veganism.
M: It’s okay if it’s a process. I’ve heard so many people giving up being vegan because they can’t cut out cheese or fish, etc. However, it might take your body time to adjust to eating a certain way. Therefore rather than just going vegan cold turkey – start with vegetarianism or pescatarian and ease into the lifestyle.
M: I’ve gotten a lot more confident with my beliefs and how I perceive myself. At first, I was embarrassed coming to the lifestyle coming from an area where it was a little unorthodox however there came a time when I realized, if Veganism makes me happy then why hide something that’s so central to who I am?
M- ONE: your overall self – ever since going on this lifestyle, the clarity of my mind/skin and more has been completely changed in such positive way.
TWO: EEEENERGY !!!!!!
THREE: for the animals! I was so ignorant towards the realities of how these big industries are impacting the livelihood of these innocent beings. After watching films like Cowspiracy and Food Inc. (both can be found on Netflix) my eyes were forever open to the atrocities the dairy/meat industry yields. The YouTuber, FreeLeeTheBananaGirl also has some very revealing videos on the impact.
M: besides the lovely @thatveganlifedoe, I would have to say:
