I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. I’m not even kidding, The Japanese Tomoko Spa in Beverly Hills is the BEST spa I have ever been to in my entire life. I know you’re all probably thinking, “every spa is great, stfu,” but, oh honey, as someone who has been to a fair share of spas in my lifetime, including a spa in actual Japan, this one takes the CAKE. Vegan cake, obviously. Duh.
Let me start from the beginning. The Tomoko Spa is famous for their couples massage, aka “The Japanese Experience,” which is what my sissy and I got. It was such a multi-layered experience, I don’t even know where to begin. When you arrive, they bring you into the most zen lounge of all time. They treat you to tea and chocolate (unfortunately, the chocolate wasn’t vegan), and, once you fill out a quick document, they take you and your partner to your own PRIVATE SUITE. Yes, you read that correctly. The private suite is equipped with a rain shower, a hot soaking bath, a couch, two massage tables, and a place to eat.
If you know anything about Bella and me…you know that we’re hoes for two things: food and luxury. Tomoko served us JUST THAT. The treatment started with a foot bathing/massage ritual (accompanied by the best ginger tea I’ve ever had), then followed with the most luxurious full-body massage of all time. After that, the masseuses left so we could shower off the oil in the rain shower so we could sit a hot soaking tub sprinkled with rose petals. How romantic? I mean, I was with my sister, but you get the point lol. THEN… oh yes, the journey doesn’t end there… they serve you a F**KING SUSHI DINNER. Is this real life?? I literally don’t know. I might still be dreaming.
The spa was actually really easily able to accommodate us as vegans. They served us the most delectable, fresh avocado/veggie rolls with a side of edamame, wasabi (which was so sweet and good), fresh ginger, and tamari. Then… as if we weren’t spoiled enough… they served us vegan dessert, which consisted of matcha mochi, sweetened aloe, and little coconut jelly cubes.
Bella and I are still quaking from this experience. It was probably one of the best of my entire life. This spa deserves a 100/10. The service was so excellent. The vegan food was amazing. The vibes were so zen. So, needless to say, if you have a romantic partner, best friend, or sister and can afford to splurge on this… DO IT. Like… if you don’t do it, I’ll judge you forever.
