If any of you are avid skincare fans and/or watch YouTube, I’m sure you heard about the most recent skincare scandal: Susan Yara, the skincare “expert” on YouTube, was caught promoting a skincare line to her viewers before disclosing that she was actually part-owner of the company, Naturium. It was a huge thing. People were angry and threatening to sue her. Blah, blah, blah.
Their concerns were valid and I do think the whole thing was shady AF, but at the end of the day, it’s up to the individual to decide what they spend their money on. For example, I spend ridiculous amounts of money on vegan chocolate. That’s my right. Also, I didn’t really care about getting caught up in the drama. I was more so interested in checking out the products of the new line.
Luckily, I found out that all of the products were vegan and/or vegan-friendly (still unsure about the difference between those two), so I thought I would order some to test them out. So much of it was sold out, but I ended up snagging the hyaluronic acid serum 5% and the plant squalene face oil 100%.
They came adorably packaged and I loved that the ingredients are clean and vegan friendly. Both products felt smooth and hydrating on my skin. I will, though, admit that they did cause me to break out a bit when I used them. HOWEVER (don’t get your panties in a twist people!), I only used them for a few days so it could have been a coincidence.
The squalene oil is thick and I don’t love the feeling of oil on my face, so I instead put the oil on my chest and neck and love it! I take hyaluronic gummies daily, so I also just use the hyaluronic serum every now and then on my face and on my neck/chest for an extra boost.
Am I in love with these products? Not neccessarily. Do I think they are good products and worth checking out if you want cost-effective, natural, vegan skincare? Absolutely!!
